Corporate Audit Services (CAS) provides independent, objective assurance, risk identification and mitigation, and consulting activities designed to add value and improve the BNSF community. Our auditors work across the company on a range of topics of significance and can expect to interact with various leaders including senior leaders in BNSF.



This is a Staff Auditor position responsible for executing projects within internal audit in areas of Accounting, Information Technology, and Operations at BNSF

  • Perform risk assessments
  • Design and execute audit procedures and test steps
  • Interpret and evaluate audit evidence
  • Analyze observations for residual risk and assess impact to strategic objectives
  • Perform projects on-time and on-budget
  • Present results to business partners and leadership
  • Track audit findings through to remediation
  • Contribute to the departments success through participation in initiatives and special projects



  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of one year of experience in audit or related business experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required


  • Knowledge in assessing risks
  • Experience in delivering projects on-time/on-budget
  • Document processes and evidence in a concise manner
  • Ability to analyze problems to identify root cause and assess impact
  • Ability to deliver difficult information in both verbal and written form



  • Knowledge of: audit standards and methodologies, railroad operations, generally accepted accounting principles, and security
  • Experience with performing analytics, programming, or querying techniques (Data Warehouse, SAS, IDEA, TeamMate, Tableau, MS Access, or SQL)
  • CPA, CISSP, CISA, or CIA certification
