This position is located at our Fort Worth, Texas corporate office and has the potential to be a hybrid position with up to 50% remote work.

 

BNSF External Communications directs BNSF’s national and industry media relations program, manages BNSF.com, and promotes and publishes Rail Talk online. This group also reviews external-facing presentations. 

 

The Director, External Communications will be responsible for creating and directing BNSF’s external communication strategy as well as executing message delivery to the broader range of external stakeholders who have an interest in knowing about BNSF.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage media relations, content for bnsf.com, and the production of BNSF’s annual review and Corporate Social Responsibility reports.
  • Responsible for protecting and enhancing BNSF’s reputation among a broad range of external audiences.
  • Create the message themes and specific messages BNSF wants and needs delivered to the range of external stakeholders and then pushing those messages through various communications channels that are managed by this position.
  • Works closely with business leaders, including BNSF’s CEO and executive leadership.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or higher preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience required, with experience in corporate communications in a regulated, high profile industry highly desired
