DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

An OR Intern-Fellow’s work in the BNSF Operations Research and Advanced Analytics Group may include, but is not limited to the following:

  1. Work with key stakeholders and subject-matter-experts to understand business problems and consider solution approaches
  2. Research & explore novel computer vision & deep learning techniques for detection of defects in the rail image from geo car
  3. Develop & implement state of art computer vision algorithm to build an in-house customizable image processing system
  4. Share results with key stakeholders

 

Time/Location 

  1. This position requires an onsite presence in our Fort Worth office.
  2. 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, is preferred.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters or Ph.D. students pursuing a major or minor in one of the following: Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science. Ph.D. students are preferred.
  • An overall GPA of 3.0 is required.  An overall GPA of 3.5 is preferred.
  • Strong computer vision & machine learning (deep learning) background.
  • Good understanding of convolution neural network and related deep learning model.
  • Hands-on experience with OpenCV (Python & C++ version), Tensorflow, Keras
  • Experience with object detection framework (like YOLO & SSD) will be a big plus
  • Familiar with Linux environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good computer programming skill – e.g., C/C++, python, Java or any other object-oriented programming languages
