This position is located at our Fort Worth, Texas corporate office and has the potential to be a hybrid position with up to 50% remote work.

Position Summary:

This Technical Project Manager position will be responsible for leading large complex projects, or multiple medium size projects, that span multiple systems and business areas by planning delivery, organizing teams, managing scope, budget, and schedule, tracking progress, and reporting status of a Network Control Systems (NCS) project. This role requires team leadership, business acumen, strong relationship management skills within NCS and the Business and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. The Technical Project Manager will be involved with maturing project management methodology, policies, processes, tools and templates to contribute to successful delivery of NCS projects. The Technical Project Manager will be accountable for driving execution in support of meeting project milestones and commitments.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Facilitate all activities related to standing up and running a project from inception to closure; this includes, building a project requirement, conducting planning sessions, communicating resource requirements and ensuring proper governance among other activities
  • Identify, monitor and manage project/program risks and issues in a timely and unbiased manner; follow governance standards for escalating to right levels at the right time Provide transparent reporting and metrics on project health (scope, schedule and budget), and support all communications related to project delivery process
  • Lead, mentor, and support project team in your role as Project Manager; shield team from external distractions, run interference, etc. Collaborate with other functions (governance and change enablement) to ensure consistency, compliance and user adoptions
  • Drive projects from both a tactical and strategic perspective, and work with other PMs to manage interdependencies
  • Develop and manage project budgets - track, collate and analyze planned vs actual values for time and cost; take corrective/preventive actions as warranted Capture, publish and refresh project records (as appropriate), such as key decisions and action items, meeting minutes, risks and issues
  • Champion and socialize best practices of project management and development  methodologies among all stakeholders across NCS and Business

 

Required/Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university (Computer Science, Engineering, Programming, Business or a related discipline)
  •  4 or more years of experience in an Information Technology development environment
  • Experience leading projects in one of more of the following areas: Customer facing applicationsApplication development, systems integration System modernization, data migration
  • Proven experience in project management processes and execution, as well as the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for Waterfall and Agile
  • Proven record of leading and influencing team members in a matrix organization, and ability to identify and resolve project risks and issues effectively
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in utilizing productivity/collaboration tools (such as Microsoft Office and Microsoft SharePoint)

 

Preferred/Supplemental Qualifications:

  • 10-12 yrs. of combined Agile and Waterfall delivery experience, with direct accountability for project budgets (over $1.5M), scope, schedule, and quality
  • Professional certification/advanced project management education (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe) 
  • Transportation industry/railroad experience
  • Experience using MS Project Planview and/or Agility (formally VersionOne)
