Salary Range: $55,600-$83,600


This position is primarily responsible for the following:

  • Perform month-end and quarter-end close and reporting processes for BNSF and subsidiaries
  • Analyze income statement, balance sheet and cash flow activity
  • Internal reporting functions including monthly and quarterly financial report preparation and administration
  • External reporting functions for Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), Surface Transportation Board (STB) and Association of American Railroads (AAR)
  • Act as the liaison between subsidiaries, their board members, and BNSF
  • Professionally interact with senior management, other departments and outside parties in response to questions and requests for information


Successful candidate must be a self-starter, who is detail oriented, has the ability to meet deadline-oriented tasks, and is able to facilitate and organize team efforts to accomplish common goals.


Applicant must be able to adjust readily to multiple demands and shifting priorities and work well in a team environment. This position will positively contribute to a high-morale/high-performance culture.



Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting. Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in public accounting.  CPA or CPA-candidate.  Applicant must possess an expert understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).  Applicant must be able to research accounting issues and conclude on the proper accounting treatment.  Applicant must have strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.  Applicant must be able to adjust readily to multiple demands and shifting priorities.  Personal computer skills are required. 


Preferred Qualifications:

Work experience with a large public accounting firm

Masters’ Degree in accounting or business administration
