Intern Program: 

The paid Summer Internship Program is an opportunity to experience what it’s like to be a full-time BNSF employee. As an intern at BNSF, you’ll be given real-life, impactful assignments that will put your skills and education into practice. Your summer project will combine classroom experience and real-life business situations to provide value-added work to BNSF. 

 

The program is designed to identify students who will be hired by BNSF as full-time Management Trainees after they graduate. During your summer internship, you will get the chance to network with peers, our Business Resource Groups, and Senior Leaders throughout the BNSF network.

WORK LOCATION: Fort Worth, TX 

START DATE: June 2023 

END DATE:  August 2023
SALARY RANGE:  $4,000 per month  

 

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interacting with internal customers and suppliers regarding required specifications pricing, availability, and delivery of ad hoc/non-catalog procurement requests.
  • Performing necessary systematic corrective action on issues related to supplier purchase orders or contract non-compliance.
  • Supporting service and material buyers with ad hoc reporting and special project assistance.
  • Supporting contract management in the execution of accurate and timely agreements.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Primarily an office environment, with some field activities.
  • Normal office hours, Monday through Friday, with weekend or evening work as required.

 

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT: 

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work. 

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher with a degree in Engineering OR a 2.75 or higher cumulative GPA with a non-Engineering degree

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or graduate degree program at an accredited university at the time of application and throughout the internship. 

  • Less than four (4) years of work experience in a professional work environment. When calculating work experience, please EXCLUDE internships or positions held while in high school or college. 

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Relocation to Fort Worth, TX, for the summer. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. 

  • Pursuit a degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Marketing, or other Business related degree.
  • Graduation date before September 1, 2024. 

  • Basic quantitative analysis skills.
  • Knowledge in data extraction techniques using SAS, GQL, or Crystal reports.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic project and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (specifically Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
